Walking through stands and areas of co-working makes the visitor launched in a future of digital innovation and transformation, much closer than you can imagine: VivaTechnology 2017 will be an edition to remember. Not just for over 5,000 startups coming to Paris from across the world to attend the expo promoted by Publicis and Les Echos from June 15 to 17.

The presence of the President of the French Republic at Paris Nord Villepinte is commonplace. But this year the new “tenant” of the Élysée Palace did more: Emanuel Macron announced the creation of a €10 billion fund for startup and innovation. A figure that aims to give France a driving force and role in the innovation process of Europe and beyond.

VivaTechnology hosts so many startups, but above all there are the largest international companies that participate in presenting their vision of how digital innovation and transformation, thanks to startup support, will significantly change both business and global community.

Business groups such as Accor, Airfrance, Sanofi, BNP Paribas, Airbus, Roche, L’Oreal, JCDecaux, Carrefour and Orange, supported by technology partners the likes of IBM, Accenture, Cisco and AT&T, introduced new engagement and service models supported by robots, artificial intelligence, blockchain and mobile technologies. The “corporate” part is clear also through the list of speakers: Bernard Arnault, LVMH CEO, Jeff Immelt, GE CEO, and Jean-Laurent Bonnafé, BNP Paribas CEO.

Many were the digital economy giants, Daniel Zhang, Alibaba Group CEO, Eric Schmidt, Alphabet (Google …) Executive Chairman. What were the areas of innovation presented in the three-day Parisian expo? Mobility and transportation; work (now inevitably smart …) and health (increasingly “managed” in a digital way with connected devices) in a broader sense of well-being, with a special focus on the overall care of the person, even financially-speaking.

Pre-application for 2018 edition is available now. It will be an opportunity to evaluate what President Macron’s commitment has produced in 12 months. Even to understand what progress the big groups are doing in their digital transformation, thanks also to inputs coming from the startup industry.
