In response to the new health needs of the new normal, BNP Paribas Cardif (among the top ten insurance companies in Italy according to ANIA 2019) strengthens its strategy, increasingly orienting it on health and prevention for its customers and their families. This is how “New health journey” was born, the evolution of a path started in 2018, which is renewed to meet people’s new health needs, focusing on prevention, even before treatment, support – also at home – and digitalization, with BNP Paribas Cardif going on investing in.

Consistent with this strategy, the “Unica BNL” policy, the flexible insurance solution created in partnership with BNL, provides four specific areas of intervention in the social and health field.

BNP Paribas Cardif, four areas of intervention for healthcare

With “Medical Care” patients can get a doctor’s visit at home, receive medications at home, assistance for minors and family members, and follow-up hospitalization.

News also for post-hospitalization home care, thanks to the “Temporary Medical Care” area.

For “Personal Care” the scope of intervention is broadened: a qualified support at home will be possible (even after surgery), as well as a home shopping service. For people with permanent disability, on the other hand, coverage is provided for the cost of adapting the house and car.

In addition, with “Family Care”, the “Unica BNL” policy provides for the possibility of requesting a paediatric home visit, a baby-sitting service and the attendance of children at school in case of hospitalization of the insured party.

In addition, thanks to the new dedicated and free “Unica BNL” app, already offering several services – information on guarantees, reimbursement requests, appointments at affiliated facilities – it is now possible to make a medical video-consultation and manage one’s own health data safely within the digital health booklet, which can also be shared with the physician during the visit.

The change of perspective in the insurance industry

“Today, more than ever, health is a precious asset to be taken care of, in terms not only of treatment but also through prevention and wellness education,” said Isabella Fumagalli, Head of Territory for Insurance in Italy at BNP Paribas Cardif. “We strongly support our social role as a company and want to represent a key point in the well-being of families in the long run by making insurance, including health one, ever more accessible.”

“In the insurance sector we are witnessing a change of perspective, also due to the Pandemic that has transformed what previously looked like a plus into a need: thus a remote medical consultation or viewing personal medical records in an app now become necessary and at the same time a plus, no longer an option. The creation of health ecosystems, which began in 2018 in partnership with tech companies, has allowed us to focus more precisely on this service element, including digital, and to boost defensive behaviors by facilitating access to products and treatments”.

Marco Tarantola, Deputy General Manager of BNL and Head of the Bank’s Commercial Banking Division and Agent Networks, added: “The synergies between BNL and BNP Paribas Cardif are increasingly intense, generating added value in the provision of innovative services and solutions to customers and their families. This is one of the hallmarks of the business model of BNP Paribas Group, which in Italy runs companies in several business sectors. In the field of protection and insurance services, in particular, the protection of people is not only a way to be further at customers’ side, moreover at a time that is still complex due to the ongoing Pandemic, but it also responds to our #PositiveBanking strategy that joins business with sustainability, attention to individuals and their well-being, in respect of a healthier environment and a better Community”.

BNP Paribas Cardif and BNL: tangible measures in a difficult situation

These innovations all have a common element: bringing services to customers where they live and care. Customers, indeed, can take advantage of the new services directly where they live or where is more convenient; to this is also added a prevention service without any limit of use, 24/7.

The new health path testifies to the ongoing commitment of BNP Paribas Cardif and BNL to continue to support their customers together when the difficulties linked to the health, social and economic emergency generated by Covid-19 persist. The company and the bank have in fact intervened, already in the first phase of the Pandemic, with concrete actions in favor of individuals and families, with the free extension of some guarantees of the policy “Unica BNL” and promoting Digital Care services, screening campaigns for Covid-19 and discounts on swabs and serological tests.
