New world needs new protection. In this age of suddenness, where changes are ever-present and unpredictable, the insurance industry is facing a complex challenge: adapting to new needs and offering clients protection solutions increasingly simple to be defined and used, personalized in terms of coverage and reimbursement, and comprehensive.
“L’Assicurazione + Accessibile” (“More Accessible Insurance”) is, therefore, the topic that BNP Paribas Cardif, one of the top ten insurance companies in Italy, has chosen for the eighth edition of Open-F@b Call4Ideas 2021, fostered in partnership with InsuranceUp.
The aim of the contest is to reward the solutions providing a simplified communication, a fluid experience, improving the speed of response to the market in terms of offer, proposition and management of insurance activities to reach a wider audience of customers and stakeholders. In addition, with a view to enhancing the territory and to strengthen the innovative network of the country in favor of recovery, this year’s call aims to connect startups based in Italy with the international ecosystems the Company is a partner of.
Open-F@b 2021, how the call works
Until September 26, startups, scaleups, young students and innovative companies can apply to Open-F@b Call4Ideas and submit their projects. After a first online selection by a Committee made up of BNP Paribas Group and BNP Paribas Cardif executives in Italy, university professionals in digital technologies and experts, the shortlisted startups will present their proposals in a digital battle to be held in October 2021. The ten finalist startups will then be the participants of the final event in November.
The prizes of the contest
The winners will be supported by BNP Paribas Cardif’s R&D team in the development and implementation of their project, taking into account the needs of the market and the Company. In addition, all finalist projects will be introduced to C. Entrepreneurs Fund, BNP Paribas Cardif’s venture capital fund with Cathay Innovation, which aims to accelerate the Company’s innovation through investments in early stage startups, and included in the SCOOP platform employed in BNP Paribas’ Open Innovation ecosystem to share, manage and promote cooperation with startups.
New features this year include the opportunity for two members of each winning team to present their project and engage with other startups hosted at BivwAk! the BNP Paribas Group’s in-house incubator based in Paris.
Open-F@b 2021, what’s new
There’s more. Open-F@b Call4Ideas has a new partner: PNICube, the association – with 50 members including universities and academic incubators – that brings together Italian academic incubators and business plan competitions, created with the aim of encouraging the creation and supporting the introduction to the market of new companies with a high knowledge content of university origin. Thanks to this partnership, BNP Paribas Cardif can extend the call to younger people in a more capillary way on the territory, while PNICube will participate in the selection of some startups involved in the digital battle and will be present with a member in the judging panel of the final round.
Applications must be submitted by September 26, 2021 via the registration form
Open-F@b Call4Ideas, the project
Open-F@b Call4Ideas is an Open Innovation project launched for the first time in 2014 by BNP Paribas Cardif in partnership with InsuranceUp.it. After having dealt in the past editions with topics such as Customer Acquisition, Internet of Things and Big Data, Customer Experience and Preventive Insurance, Innovation with Positive Social Impact, Human Data Science and Next Normal, 2021 will be dedicated to the research of the most innovative solutions to make “L’Assicurazione + Accessibile” (“More Accessible Insurance”).
In the past seven editions Open-F@b Call4Ideas got a great success: about 500 applications were proposed – many from abroad – about 80 innovative ideas were chosen, which led to several collaborations and the implementation of at least one project per year, and about one million euros invested.
An achievement that mirrors BNP Paribas Cardif’s commitment to innovation focused on the individual and bringing real value to the entire community, from clients to employees and other stakeholders. An innovation based on inclusion, sharing, concreteness and knowledge crossover, changing the way insurance is delivered. All rights reserved
