The innovative and reusable Covid-19 mask made in Italy

Meeting the need to wear the protective mask, an Italian startup stands out by creating iMask, an innovative personal and medical protective device, with FFP3 filter: safe, washable and eco-friendly

Keeping safe and protecting people’ health is extremely important as the Covid-19 pandemic spreads, especially in this delicate phase, when activities and travel are just getting started again. The health emergency has made it essential to comply with strict procedures for the prevention and control of the contagion, including the much-famed mask. To meet the need to wear protective masks, an Italian startup stood out by creating iMask, an innovative protective, personal and medical device.

Conceived, created and sold by iMask srl, an innovative Sicilian startup aiming to turn the production of masks around, iMask is the result of the gathering of five entrepreneurs, including Salvatore Cobuzio, founder of Martha’s Cottage, e-commerce for weddings in Europe, and Giovanni Gallo, designer and founder of the Gallo-Lab digital design and manufacturing Lab, with the medical surgeon Otorhinolaryngology at the “Vito Fazzi” Hospital in Lecce, Giovanni Leo Tomacelli. Different but complementary points of view and skills joined together to create an innovative mask: safe, washable and reusable, eco-friendly and ergonomic.

iMask is the only valve-less mask protecting both the wearer and those close to the wearer thanks to its filter properties, featuring an innovative polypropylene fabric certified in FFP3 protection class, the highest standard available on the market for semi-permanent personal and surgical protection masks..

Made up of the primary shell, filter and insulating cartridge, iMask is a personal protective equipment certified by way of derogation and is undergoing the certification process as a medical device, which requires 20 working days from the beginning of the procedure, in compliance with the European standard on “Breathing Apparatus – Filtering half masks to protect against dust – Requirements, testing, labelling“. Designed, engineered and manufactured entirely in Italy, iMask is protected by three international patents (filed in April 2020).
