PNICube, partner of Open-F@b Call4Ideas 2021, kicks off the new edition of the National Award for Innovation (PNI), the contest that rewards the best of Italian early stage startups resulting from academic research.

PNICube is the association that brings together the incubators and business plan competitions of Italian universities and one of the leading vehicles for the enhancement of technology transfer in Italy. Since 2003, it has been supporting the creation of highly innovative companies, spreading the business culture in the academic environment and fostering the relationship among researchers, companies and financial institutions.

“From research to business for a sustainable future” is the topic of PNI 2021, which will take place over two days in a blended format, in streaming and at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome.

“Now in its 19th edition, we have been consistently trying to encourage the transformation of academic research results into tangible business projects for several years,” said Alessandro Grandi, president of PNICube. “The association brings together the experiences and activities of all Italian universities along with national and international best practices.”

Designed to reward the best early-stage projects born from research, PNI brings together the more than 60 winners of the 15 regional Start Cups activated by the universities participating in PNICube.

Thanks to the support of Regione Lazio, Lazio Innova, Unindustria, with the main partnership of Gruppo Iren and the main sponsorship of Intesa Sanpaolo, Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center and Gilead Sciences, the award will take place on Tuesday, November 30 (10 am to 5:30 pm), online, and Friday, December 3 (9:30 am to 1:30 pm), in presence at the University of “Tor Vergata” and in streaming on the official platform.

“Startups are the real engine of employment growth and economic development,” pointed out Grandi, “as well as the tool increasingly used by established companies to renew themselves through open innovation”.

To support this process, this year for the first time PniCube is partner of Open-f@b Call4Ideas, the innovation contest of BNP Paribas Cardif with InsuranceUp to collect innovative projects aimed at making insurance more accessible.

Alessandro Grandi (PNICube): we’re bringing Open-f@b Call4Ideas to universities

Thanks to the PniCube network, the contest has managed to gather ideas also from Italian universities, and is now ready for the final event on November 25, when winners will be revealed.
