Founded in 2014, Filo is a startup that aims to create products to “help people stay close to the things they love”, with IoT technology already patented in 30 countries worldwide.
Founded by Giorgio Sadolfo, Lapo Ceccherelli, Andrea Gattini and Stefania De Roberto, Filo was accelerated by LUISS EnLabs, LVenture Group’s business accelerator, and now runs in the Pi Campus district.
The company’s first product was Filo Tag, a Bluetooth tracker for finding everyday objects such as wallets and keys. It has just launched Tata Pad, an anti-abandonment device in line with the new regulations, which detects the presence of children in car seats. The new product will be able to alert the emergency contacts on the smartphone in case of abandonment in the car, even if the device is switched off, unloaded or out of range. The product could make this Italian startup jump on the market, thanks also to the obvious synergies it could develop with the insurance sector.
Filo startup has just closed a 2.5 million euro deal with equity and debt instruments, capitalization needed to launch Tata Pad.
“We are proud of how Filo, a startup that has succeeded in improving its technology over the years, is growing thanks to the great work of the team and the support of investors.” said Luigi Capello, CEO of LVenture Group, who has supported this company from the very beginning “The ability to intercept new market needs is one of the key features for scale-up and Filo is one of the leading companies in technology for anti-abandonment devices, thanks to strong business arrangements with international players. LVenture Group confirms its confidence in the startup and its potential to scale further in the international market with this new investment.”
“Filo’s is a beautiful story of resilience and steadfastness.” said Marco Trombetti, Pi Campus CEO, “When in trouble everyone would have quit, they designed and launched a new product, multiplying sales by 100%. Filo must set an example for everyone, especially during this tough and challenging pandemic”.
